The dam is located on the Presumpscot River in the Town of Falmouth, Cumberland County, Maine, about one mile upstream from the Interstate 295 bridge. Th e dam is situated at Presumpscot Falls, which defines the head of tide on the Presumpscot River. The dam to be demolished is a 15-foot high, 151-foot long, and 31-foot wide rock and earth filled timber cribe structure with a concrete cap and a wooden spillway extension. There is a gate section with 5-foot by 8-foot hydraulic gates and a gatehouse, a forebay and intake structure leading to a 120-foot long open power canal, a powerhouse containing six turbine generator units, and a concrete fish lift structure.
