Description
Offers are sought for the replacement of surface rock on roads used for fire suppression activities on the Okanogan and Wenatchee National Forest. These roads are located on the Tonasket Ranger District, with the exception of one road segment on the Methow Valley Ranger District. The project will consist of the crushing of surface rock (gradation ?F) in two to four Forest Service rock pits. Due to on going needs and requirements, a three year, multi-year contract is contemplated. In the base year, 2002, the contractor will be required to develop and utilize one pit on the Tonasket Ranger District, develop and utilize one pit on the Methow Valley Ranger District, reshape and place surface rock on approx. 1.7 miles on Road 4300000. The two above mentioned pits are Bail Quarry, located 19 miles southwest of Tonasket, WA in Township 35, Range 30, Section 03, with a maximum amount of 24,000 cubic meters (loose) aggregate being produced; and the Lower Libby Pit, located six miles west of the town of Carlton in the Methow Valley in Township 32, Range 21, Section 20, with up to 6,000 cubic meters (loose) aggregate being produced. Pit development, such as clearing and grubbing, will be required at these sites. Work is estimated to start Mid August, 2002, and be completed within 60 calendar days. For the following years 2003 and 2004, the following rock source development is required, subject to availability of funding of that fiscal year: Mount Anne Pitsite; Township 37, Range 30, Section 15. A total of 10,500 Cubic Meters of aggregate (loose) is required to be produced. Toats Coulee Quarry; Township 39, Range 23, Section 24. A total of 7,000 Cubic Meters of aggregate (loose) is required to be produced. As a possible alternative to crushing rock from National Forest Lands, contractors are encouraged to seek alternative commercial sources for crushed aggregate, gradation ?F?, to explore the possibility that the Government may be able to obtain crushed aggregate at a lower cost. Other follow-on work for year 2003 and 2004, are reshaping and resurfacing roads on the following roads: FS Road 3000000 for 3.7 miles, FS Road 3000500 for 3.5 miles, FS Road 3005200 for 7.3 miles, FS Road 3100000 for 5.7 miles, and FS Road 3900300 for 3.7 miles. Contract guarantee for all three years is $320,000 worth of work ordered. Estimated contract total cost range is between $250,000 to $500,000. 100% Performance and Payment Bonds are required. A site visit is schedule for July 12, 2002 at 0900, starting at the Bail Quarry, located 19 miles southwest of Tonasket, WA in Township 35, Range 30, Section 03. Contact Dave Colbert, 509-826-3282, for project location and specification information. NAICS Code is 234110 with small business size of $28.5 million.
