Description
The Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Center, 1011 Honor Heights Drive, Muskogee, OK 74401 is offering the following solicitation for Pathology Services. Contractor shall provide Pathology coverage for the VAMC MUSKOGEE, OK with a board certified Pathologist (anatomical and clinical). Coverage shall be needed at facility for approximately 2-4 hours (11:00am-3:00pm) normal duty day. On an as needed basis this may be accomplished by being available by telephone in addition to the hours actually spent at the medical center. Contract Pathologist shall be available onsite within 1 hour for emergency callback Coverage would include but not be limited to: reading and interpretations of surgical pathology slides, bone marrows, crystal identification, fine needle aspirates and frozen sections performed at VAMC, or taken to a local laboratory for rapid interpretations. Per the discretion of either party, it may be acceptable to provide coverage at a local facility within 15 minutes of the VAMC (time restriction due to the transporting of frozen specimens which must be finished within 20-30 minutes). Duties shall include surgical pathology gross and microscopic examinations and all attendant functions, including coding and report verification. Other duties shall include providing autopsy services. Autopsies are performed at the MVAMC morgue. . Annual workload estimates are as follows: Surgicals-2100; Cytologies-535; Autopsies-25; and IMIP units-1,045,500. Qualifications: Physicians must be licensed in a state, territory, or commonwealth of the United States or the District of Columbia. The qualifications of such personnel shall also be subject to review by the Chief, Pathology Service, credentialing team, and the approval of the facility Director. Physicians performing work at this facility must be U.S. citizens and credentialed and privileged in accordance with VA regulation as set forth in VA Handbook 1100.19. Contractor is required to submit required information for completion of the credentialing process. If a group practice offers, there can be any number of different individual pathologists providing this coverage as long as they all are participating in the group practice of which they all belong and have current credentials at the VA Medical Center. Offerors not yet credentialed at this facility must possess the qualifications to be credentialed in order to work at this facility. Individual pathologists not in a group may submit an offer. The North American Industry Classification System is 621111, Size Standard is $5M. Request for bid packages shall be in writing on company letterhead. The requests may be faxed to 918-680-3852. The government is not responsible for the quality of faxed materials. Bid packages will be available after June 21, 2002. The bid package is due by COB July 22, 2002 @ 2:30pm.
