Description

This is a REQUEST FOR INFORMATION. Reference RFI02AP0001 when responding to this announcement. The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide a product/tool/device to detect various hardware, operating systems, and software products. The software product/package must have the capabilities listed below. Cross-platform support, OS/390 MVS, and all flavors of UNIX & Windows. Must detect, at a minimum: hardware manufacturer, model, serial number and hardware details for standard and non-standard machines; operating system, service packs, patch level; software manufacturer, product name, version, and language. Tool must provide the capability to distinguish various IT platforms, i.e., workstation or server. Too must have the ability to collect data from networked, remote access, dial-up and non-networked computers. Must provide the capability to manipulate the products inventory of COTS applications to add applications that have been developed in-house. Must remotely refresh the product's inventory of COTS application with applications that have been updated or newly introduced to the open market. If an agent is required to be installed on the device, no end user intervention to support installation of the product. Centralized, and an automated desktop management for the product. The management console must be compatible with the current network infrastructure. Must provide an interface to the in-house Peregrine Systems, Inc. Service Center Help Desk, Version 4.0.2, SP5 application. Onsite training and support will be required for initial implementation with ongoing maintenance support. The repository for data collected by the tool, must be an Oracle database. Numerous reports will be required. Ad hoc reporting capabilities are a must. The product and all related deliverables must be compatible with SSA's requirements for Section 508 compliance, which are available online at http://www.ssa.gov/oag; then click on acquisition information and scroll down the page to Section 508. The solution must not require changes to existing operating systems, hardware or application software in use at SSA. The product must be able to integrate with already installed systems critical to SSA. Responses must contain sufficient documentation to establish a potential capability to fulfill the requirement as far as has been specified in this announcement. Closing Date for this submission is 10 calendar days from the date of this notice. No FAXED or E-MAILED responses will be accepted. Responses shall be mailed to Social Security Administration, Office of Acquisition and Grants, Attn: Amy Pasciak, Contract Specialist, 1710 Gwynn Oak Avenue, Baltimore, MD 21207-5279. Respondents will NOT be notified of the results of ANY evaluation made from the information submitted. NO award will be made from the basis of this announcement. The information will be used in SSA's assessment of capable sources. NO FORMAL SOLICITATION IS BEING ISSUED AT THIS TIME.
