Description
ISSUE DATE: 27 JUNE 2002: Contractor shall provide all labor, materials, transportation, supervision, equipment, and disposal to repaint the Valcour Island Aids to Navigation Tower (also known as Bluff Point Light), Valcour Island, Lake Champlain, Peru, NY. The work includes, but is not limited to the following: Remove existing lead containing paint from all interior and exterior surfaces of the approximately 60ft tall steel tank house tower. Tower has tested positive for lead containing paint. Repaint all interior and exterior tower surfaces with zinc rich primer and aliphatic polyurethane. Contractor shall have option of temporarily disassembling and removing the tower to take to a suitable paint removal facility. Reassembly of the tower shall be as per original construction. Complete minor metalwork to the tower including repairing tank house door hasp, removal of the lower 10ft to 15ft bolt on ladder (ladder to remain Government property and to remain on site), and welding tank house door in closed position upon completion of work. Cut down all trees on USCG owned property within 5ft of tower foundation. Cut felled trees into sections no greater than 3ft in length and leave on site below tower. NAICS code is 234990. Estimated cost range is between $25,000 and $100,000. Solicitation packages will be available on or about 6/27/02. The date for receipt of quotes is on or about 7/17/02 at 4:00 pm local time. This is applicable to any eligible prime or subcontract at any tier. The DOT Bonding Assistance Program enables firms to apply for bid, payment and performance bonds up to $1.0 million per contract. The DOT provides an 80% guaranty on the bond amount to a surety against losses.
