Description
The Naval Surface Warfare Center Dahlgren Division (NSWCDD) intends to purchase and requests quotations for the following Telemetry Simulator (TS) unit to be used in the evaluation and checkout of US Navy telemetry receiving systems. The TS shall be capable of generating modulated radio frequency (RF) outputs in the 1400 to 2500 Mhz frequency band. RF modulation of both internal and external sources shall be supported by the TS. The TS shall also be capable of generating simulated swept Doppler frequency outputs up to frequencies of 200 Khz. The TS shall provide the capability to be controlled via front panel controls or via RS-232C, RS-422 or IEEE-488 remote interfaces. RF OUTPUT REQUIREMENTS - The TS shall meet the following minimum RF output requirements: (a) Frequency Range: Shall be tuneable from 1400 to 2500 Mhz in 1 Hz increments. (b) RF Output Power: Shall be adjustable from ?130 dBm to +20 dBm in 1 dB steps. Each output power level shall have a stability level of +/- 1 dB across the entire RF frequency range. (c) RF Frequency Sweep: The TS shall be capable of performing a digitally programmed frequency sweep within the following frequency bands: 1400-1599 Mhz, 1600-1799 Mhz, 1800-1999 Mhz, 2000 to 2199 Mhz, 2200 to 2399 Mhz, 2400 to 2499 Mhz, (d) RF Frequency Sweep Rate: The TS shall be capable of 100 discrete frequency changes per second while sweeping. (e) RF Harmonic Output: Harmonic output levels shall be no greater than ?55 dBc from 1500 to 2500 Mhz. (f) Spurious RF Outputs: Spurious RF output signals shall be no greater than ?50 dBc. MODULATION REQUIREMENTS - The TS shall be capable of modulating the RF output from modulation sources internal to the TS and sources external to the TS. The TS shall meet the fo llowing additional minimum modulation requirements: (a) Internal Modulation Modes: The following RF modulation modes shall be supported internal to the TS: Amplitude Modulation (AM), Frequency Modulation (FM), Phase Modulation (PM), Pulse Code modulation/Frequency Modulation (PCM/FM), Pulse Code Modulation/Phase Modulation (PCM./PM), Pulse Code Modulation/Bi-Phase Shift Keying (PCM/BPSK), Pulse Code Modulation/Quadrature Phase Shift Keying (PCM/QPSK), (b)Internal AM Modulation Characteristics: TS shall support AM at programmable depths from 0 to 100%. The TS shall support AM frequencies of 10 Hz to 20 Mhz. (c) Internal FM Modulation Characteristics: The TS shall support FM with sine wave frequencies with the following peak deviation characteristics. FM Frequency: 10 Hz to 2 Mhz, 10 Hz to 20 Mhz; Peak Deviation: 10 Hz to 185 Khz, 186 Khz to 12 Mhz; (d) Internal Phase Mo dulation Characteristics: The TS shall support PM from 10 Hz to 20 Mhz at peak deviations of 0 to 3.14 radians. (e) Internal PCM Modulation Characteristics: The TS shall support internal PCM simulation at rates from 10 bits per second to 20 Megabits per second for all modulation codes except Bi-Phase. The TS shall support internal PCM simulation for Bi-Phase modulation at rates from 10 bits per second to 10 Megabits per second. (f) Internal PCM Data Patterns: The TS shall support internal generation of 1023 bit and 2047 bit pseudo-random bit patterns for use in bit error rate testing. The TS shall also support user programmable PCM bit patterns up to 4 Kilobits in length. (g) External Modulation Characteristics: The TS shall accept an external input signal at a level of 1 Volt peak to peak for AM, FM and PM of the RF carrier. DOPPLER SIMULATION CHARACTERISTICS - The TS shall meet the following Doppler simulation requirements: (a) Doppler Frequency Range: The TS shall provide simulated Doppler outputs from 5 to 200 Khz. (b) Doppler Sweep Rates: The TS shall support frequency sweeping of the Doppler output at rates from 10 Hz/second to 100 Khz/second. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - The TS shall be in a 19 inch wide rack mount configuration, shall have a maximum panel height 7 inches and shall have a maximum depth of 26 inches. The weight of the TS shall not exceed 65 pounds. CONNECTORS - The TS shall provide the following inputs/outputs with the corresponding connector types and impedances as a minimum: (a) RF Output, Type N, 50 ohms impedance, (b) External Modulation Input, Type BNC, 50 ohms impedance, (c) PCM Output, Type BNC, 50 ohms impedance POWER REQUIREMENTS - Unit shall operate from 108-132 Volts, 48-62 Hz AC Power. Max imum current required shall be 4.0 Amps. REMOTE INTERFACE REQUIREMENTS - The unit shall provide IEEE-488, RS-422 and RS-232C interfaces as a minimum. Each interface shall be capable of controlling and status monitoring every programmable function in the TS. ENVIRONMENTAL - The following environmental requirements shall be met. Formal testing of requirements is not required, ability to meet requirements shall be demonstrated through design practices: (a) Operating Temperature: Shall operate from 0 to 50 degree Celsius (b) Non-operating Temperature Range: Shall not be damaged when exposed to temperatures from ?40 to +70 degrees C in a non-operating condition. (c) Humidity: Shall operate in non-condensing humidity environments from 0 to 95% WARRANTY - Unit shall include a 12-month warranty against manufacturing defects.
