- Description
- The National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) is conducting research on improving the technology to remotely construct mine seals. The proposed work will be conducted at NIOSH?s Lake Lynn Laboratory located near Fairchance, PA, about 60 miles southeast of Pittsburgh, PA. The mine seal will be installed remotely through a borehole that has been drilled and completed into a cross-cut between the B and C drifts of the underground mine. Work will be conducted over a two-month period in three (3) Phases. Phase 1 - Definition of Materials to be Used; Phase 2 - Construction of a Remote Mine Seal; Phase 2A - Large Sample Construction; Phase 2B - Mine Seal Construction; and Phase 3 - Development of a Summary Report. Simplified Acquisition Procedures requiring written quotations will be utilized. This procurement is a 100% small business set-aside.
