- Fleet Industrial Supply Center (FISC) Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Annex has a requirement to design and build a single set of two (2) marine camels for SSBN-726 Ohio Class submarines as described herein: camel width shall be dictated by a required standoff of 35 feet from the face of the pier, inclusive of both the camel fender and pier fender pile systems; camel length will be as dictated by design; camels shall be of steel construction, with a suitable fender system and Ultra-High Molecular Weight Polyethylene (UHMWPE) rub strips or rubber fendering around the remaining perimeter of the camel; camel decking shall be of composite/Fiber Reinforced Plastic (FRP) materials; and camels shall be designed to withstand berthing energy and mooring forces as specified in the RFQ. This procurement is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures as set forth in FAR Part 13.5. After initial proposals, FISC, Norfolk Naval Shipyard Annex intends to conduct an on-line, anonymous, competitive reverse auction to be facilitated by a third-party reverse auction provider (www.govauctions.procuri.com). The government reserves the right to award on initial offers as submitted regardless of the outcome of the reverse auction. The solicitation number is N00181-02-T-0362. Closing date for receipt of offers will be established in the solicitation. The applicable NAICS code for this procurement is 332111. This procurement shall be unrestricted competition.
