- Ex-USS ORISKANY CVA 34, The intent of this RFI is to solicit Industry input to determine Industry interest/capability relative to towing, remediation, demilitarization, and dismantlement or other methodologies that ensure the complete disposal of the ex-USS ORISKANY (CVA-34). The ORISKANY is an approximate 30,000 ton ESSEX Class aircraft carrier currently moored in Beaumont, TX. Remediation, dismantlement, and disposal will be done IAW Federal, State, and Local ES&H Regulations. Previous surveys conducted on ORISKANY have identified hazardous materials in regulated concentrations such as lead-based paint, solid and liquid PCBs, asbestos, and chromate in ballast water. This RFI is not a Request for Proposal, and nothing shall be construed herein or through the RFI process to commit or obligate the Government to further action as a result of this RFI. In addition, firms respond ing to this RFI shall bear all risk and expense of any resources used to provide the requested information. The information collected through this process is considered to be market research as described by FAR 2.101.
