Description
Amendment No. 1 issued changing the bid date to July 10, 2002. This is a Fixed Price contract for the items listed in the Unit Price Schedule. The Contractor will have total system responsibility. The work includes, but is not limited to the removal of existing Automatic Train Protection (ATP) track circuits including the ATP modules in the train control room, the associated wayside track equipment and necessary incidentials; and the design, engineering, project management, quality control, furnishing, installing, testing and the placing into service, ready for use complete new ATP track circuits at four Metro Rail stations (Minnesota Ave., Deanwood, Cheverly and Landover). The Contractor will be responsible for furnishing of all labor, materials, equipment, tools, supervision, testing, transportation, safety, appurtenances and other items necessary to replace the ATP track circuits. The Contractor will be responsible for making field measurements and for applying for and obtaining all necessary permits. The estimated cost range is $1,000,000 to $5,000,000. A bid guarantee, in the amount of 5% of the bid price, is required with the bid if it is greater than $50,000. The solicitation will include a DBE goal to be specified. Please note that, in compliance with FTA regulations, Appendix B now requires DBEs to be pre-certified by WMATA prior to receipt of bids/proposals. The successful bidder must provide Performance and Payment Bonds after award of the contract in the specified amounts. An insurance certificate with coverages to be specified and with WMATA included as an additional insured, will also be required of the successful bidder. Bids are due as stated in the solicitation which is currently by 2:00 p.m., June 26, 2002 at WMATA, 600 Fifth Street, NW, Washington, DC 20001. Printed copies of the contract plans and specifications will be furnished o/a May 27, 2002 at the cost of $30.00 for specifications, $10.00 for half size drawings and $5.00 for Construction Safety Methods Manual.
