- Description
- The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) proposes to acquire by the use of single source procedures, the continued services for engineering and technical support services, now being provided by Computer Systems Designers, LLC., (CSD) 500 N. Meridian Avenue, Suite 100L, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma 73107. Award of the follow-on contract, a labor-hour/time and materials type contract, is contemplated on or about September 11, 2002. A bilateral modification of contract DTFA-02-97-D-97511 will provide for an interim two-month contract, with a one-month option period, while an award is made under a competitive 8(a) set-aside. Cost for the first two-month?s performance is estimated at $280,000, with the three-month total estimated at $420,000. This acquisition is in support of the Federal Aviation Administration Logistics Center?s (FAALC) Product Services Division, which provides direct support to the FAA National Airspace System (NAS) field offices. These field offices provide day-to-day support, for various NAS systems, critical to the required maintenance of the system, which directly impacts the safety of the flying public. The acquisition of these interim services will enable the contractor, CSD, whose contract expires July 11, 2002, to continue work for a two-month period, with an additional one-month renewal period if needed, while a new contract is awarded. The option month is included to cover any unforeseen delays, which would preclude the new contract from being awarded by September 11, 2002. CSD has been performing these services for the past five years. It would be neither cost effective nor technically practical to obtain a new contractor for two months of service. The loss of the services of CSD would interrupt the Logistic Center?s engineering and technical support to NAS field offices. Failure to provide these services may cause some NAS systems to shut down, leaving air traffic control without essential systems that may result in potential danger to the flying public. CSD is the only source capable of performing these services in the time required.
