Description
Furnish all necessary labor, tools, materials, equipment and supervision for Project #529-00-113, IFB 529-1-02, HVAC System, Ph. 4, at the VA Medical Center, 325 New Castle Rd., Butler, PA 16001, in accordance with the specifications and drawings. Work includes, but is not limited to: The demolition and removal of piping, fan coils, convectors, electrical, bulkhead enclosures and asbestos abatement. New work includes fan coils, radiant panels, exhaust fans, a 100% outside air AHU, electrical and associated piping, ductwork, and other appurtenances. Fan coils are located on Floor 1, Building No. 1. Approximate area of fan coil work is 18,000 square feet. AHU & exhaust fans are located on Floor 5, Building No. 1. Provide ventilation for Floor 1 offices and exams. Also, included is future capacity for additional floors. Included with all work is removal and reinstallation of new mechanical systems. BID ALTERNATE 1: Same as base bid, except delete, the furnish and installation of new ceilings and light fixtures within corridors. Reinstall existing lights and ceilings throughout after MEP systems are complete. Part A ? Submittals: Provide all submittals within sixty (60) calendar days from the date of receipt of the notice to proceed. Upon submission, review, and approval of all submittals, the contractor will immediately begin Part B, construction, unless approved otherwise by the Contracting Officer. Part B ? Construction: Construction time is four hundred fifty-six (456) calendar days, and begins immediately after the sixty (60) days submittal period. The schedule (phasing) for construction is shown below. Completion time, 456 calendar days, includes the VA?s time between phases. Phasing: One phase must be completed before the next phase starts. The owner (VA) shall have twelve (12) calendar days between phases to vacate the next phase area. Contractor shall notify the owner (VA) within fifteen (15) calendar days prior to phase completion. Some work will be accomplished during the Day Shift and some work will be accomplished during the Night Shift (hours of operation ? 5:00pm to 1:00pm). Phase 1 Floor 2 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time thirty (30) calendar days. Phase 2A partial Floor 5 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Night Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Night Shift ? completion time thirty (30) calendar days. Phase 2B partial Floor 5 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time thirty (30) calendar days. Phase 2C partial Floor 5 and 6 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time sixty (60) calendar days. Phase 3 Shaft and Riser ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time forty-five (45) calendar days. Phase 4 partial Floor 1 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time forty- five (45) calendar days. Phase 5 partial Floor 1 ? Asbestos Abatement ? Day Shift ? completion time twelve (12) calendar days; demolition and new work ? Day Shift ? completion time sixty (60) calendar days. Solicitation documents consisting of the Solicitation, Specifications, Drawings and Contract Forms for submitting a bid may be downloaded without charge from the following web site: http://www.bos.oamm.va.gov Amendments to the solicitation will be posted at this web site. All parties must obtain amendments to the solicitation through the web site. Hard copies will not be mailed. Interested parties must go to the web site to be entered on the Bidders Mailing List and to obtain copies of the Bidders Mailing List at the above web site. Also, a limited number of solicitation packages are available from the issuing office on a first come first serve basis, for a non-refundable charge of $85.00 per set in the form of a cashier?s check, certified check, or money order made payable to the Department of Veterans Affairs. Interested parties must make their own arrangements for obtaining (shipping/receiving) the solicitation documents. A written request must accompany the form of payment. If a large business is the apparent successful bidder a sub-contracting plan will be required. Issue Date is on/about July 10, 2002. Pre-bid Conference: July 30, 2002, 10:00 A.M., in the rear of Bldg. #21, Voluntary Svc., VA Medical Center, 325 New Castle Rd., Butler, PA 16001-2480.
