Description
Broad Agency Announcement (BAA), N61339-01-R-0023, was issued in the CBD on 1 March 2001, by U. S. Army Simulation, Training and Instrumentation Command (STRICOM). This notice covers the annual requirement as directed in FAR 35.016(c) and Amendment A001. The subject BAA describes experimental, developmental and applied research work opportunities for STRICOM and the Army Research Institute (ARI) and will remain in effect for five years or until superseded. The BAA is general in nature and identifies current and development areas of research of particular interest to STRICOM and ARI to include: 1. BATTLEFIELD SIMULATION RESEARCH: Engagement Simulation and Instrumentation Technology; Distributed Simulation Environments and interoperability; Logistics and Combat Service Support M&S Technologies; Synthetic Environment Data Modeling, Interchange, Access, and Reuse Development Effort; Synthetic Natural Environment; Position, Location, and Tracking for Live Training in Urban Terrain; Modeling and Simulation for Asymmetrical Warfare; Individual Virtual Environment Technologies (IVET); Objective Force Experimentation; Special Projects, modeling of 'Behavior(s) for Intelligent Unmanned Ground Systems; Computer Generated Forces; Medical Modeling and Simulation; Web-based Collaborative Training Environments; Embedded Simulation and Training; Virtual Individual and Collective Training for Dismounted Objective Force Warriors; and Wireless Communications and Networking. 2. TRAINING DEVICE AND SIMULATOR RESEARCH: Visual Simulation and Virtual Reality (VR). 3. INSTRUMENTATION, TARGETS AND THREAT SIMULATORS RESEARCH: Instrumentation, Targets, and Threat Simulators. 4. TEST AND EVALUATION RESEARCH. 5. WARGAMING RESEARCH: Wargaming Simulations and Voice Generation for Embedded Signal Intelligence Training. 6. TRAINING SYSTEMS RESEARCH: Instructional Technology, Training Systems Evaluation Research, Training and Performance Measurement for Digital Networked Military Units, and Objective Force Training Methods. 7. ADDITIONAL RESEARCH INTERESTS. This BAA also covers the announcement for Cooperative Agreements, which can be found in Part IV of the BAA. Awards resulting out of this announcement may take the form of a contract or cooperative agreement.
