Description
The purpose of this Screening Information Request (SIR) is to seek competent and qualified firms who specialize in fire protection systems. The project calls for the installation of updated fire detection and suppression systems. This includes upgrading existing Viking Fire Cycle II system controls with Viking Fire Cycle III system controls; replacing the existing HALON supression system with an on/off system; installing an access floor detection system, i.e., VESDA; and installing new dry pipe and wet pipe systems in currently unproctected areas. A Pre-Bid meeting shall be required for a walk through. On-site point of contact is Ed Velie, Resident Engineer. Mr. Velie can be reached at (303) 651-4216. Special Requirements: The Air Route Traffic Control Center (ARTCC)is a 24-hour, 7-day a week operational facility. Much of the work will be in highly sensitive areas, over and under critical equipment. Risk management will be a high priority. If in any case the work poses a threat to the continued operation of the facility, the contractor shall be issued a stop work order. Contractor will need to coordinate activities to allow for a full-time escort while on the ARTCC grounds. Expected Notice to Proceed (NTP)is August 1, 2002. A pre-construction conference shall be held as soon as possible after date of contract award, and the NTP is expected to be issued and made effective that same day. The contract performance time is 90 calendar days from the date of issuance of the NTP. A specification package is anticipated to be available to offerors approximately July 8, 2002. Proposals shall be evaluated on the basis of the following criteria: (a) firm's experience in fire protection systems; (b) past performance on contracts of like systems and similar magnitude; (c) contractor's demonstrated ability to deliver performance on schedule; and (d) price. Price shall be evaluated separately only with firms who have been qualified as technically acceptable. The magnitude of construction is estimated at between $300,000 and $600,000. Prospective contractors are requested to contact me via email at phillip.sandoval@faa.gov. It is anticipated that specification packages shall be mailed electronically to interested firms, since time is limited and award date must be met. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (21-JUN-2002). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 24-JUN-2002.
