Description

NA Sole Source Acquisition to Sikorsky Aircraft Corp. Contemporary Helicopters and Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAV's) are very sensitive to weight and cost. New technologies have become available that can reduce weight and cost by replacing the old metal material and manufacturing systems with state of the art composite processes. The application of these new composite technologies can significantly reduce the weight of both the transmission housing and airframe structures while reducing the overall acquisition, maintenance and Operation and Support cost. Obj ective: To reduce the weight, acquisition cost, and operating cost of transmission housing and structural assemblies by obtaining an integrated Manufacturing Technology effort that is a combination of material, design, and process improvements, to reduce r aw material costs, combined with a substantial reduction in fabrication labor. Requirements: The contractor shall provide the personnel, materials, facilities, equipment, and expertise required to perform the specific effort. This effort shall be perform ed without the use of ozone depleting chemicals (Public Law 102-484, Section 326 of the National Defense Authorization Act of 1993). See Note 22.
