- SPAWAR SYSTEMS CENTER, SAN DIEGO intends to negotiate a sole-source contract modification with Computer Science Corporation, San Diego, CA under their existing contract N66001-97-D-5007. This action will provide a level of effort increase and extend the period of performance through 31 Jan 2003 to allow sufficient time to award a competitive follow-on contract. The estimated increase in the level of effort is 70,500 hours. This action will be issued as a sole source modification under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This is not a request for proposal and no solicitation is available. Questions concerning this sole source modification may be directed to John A. McIvers at mciversj@spawar.navy.mil. The use of any other source for this modification would result in duplication of cost and time to develop the technical capability within another contractor's workforce resulting in substantial duplication of cost that is not expected to be recovered through competition. It is contemplated that the solicitation for the follow-on to contract to N66001-97-D-5007 will be available on or about mid September 2001. See numbered note 22.
