Description

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), intends to negotiate, on a sole source basis, under authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with A S Scientific Products, Limited in Abingdon, OX14 3NB, England for the purchase of (1) one Extended 70mm Institute Laue Langevin (ILL) Orange Cryostat for neutron scattering, complete with extended sample center stick and one (1) set of Silicone Diode Temperature Sensors.***Sole source determination is based on the need for these Orange Cryostats and Silicon Diode Temperature Sensors to be completely compatible and interchangeable with NIST's existing inventory of NIST-customized neutron scattering cryostats, spectrometers and temperature control equipment in the NIST Center for Neutron Research (NCNR) and AS Scientific is the only contractor licensed to manufacture Institute Laue Langevin (ILL) Orange Cryostats for neutron scattering. ***Delivery shall be FOB DESTINATION, Gaithersburg, MD, and is required within 90 days after receipt of order.***The North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) code for this acquisition is 421490, and the size standard is 500 employees.***No solicitation package will be issued. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations; however, the Government will consider responses received by July 23, 2002. ***A determination by the Government not to compete the proposed acquisition based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.*** For questions or concerns in regards to this notice, address them in writing to the Contracting Officer via e-mail @ joni.laster@nist.gov*** .
