Description
NA Project work involves modifications to the bridge abutments and piers required due to the widening and deepening of the existing channel for flood control. Drilled shafts will be added between existing piles of the abutments and piers, and shafts will be tied to the existing structure with new cast-in-place caps. Construction of channel walls beneath the bridge and debris protection for the piers is also included in this contract. Channel walls will be constructed of drilled shafts with a concrete facing . Construction will be phased using an earth berm to dewater and work under one side of the bridge at a time while maintaining by-pass flows through the other side. The Corps will construct the channel bottom under a separate contract. Outside Project S cope (OPS) Work. The contract also includes OPS work performed for the Puerto Rico Highway and Transportation Authority (PRHTA). OPS work includes widening each span of the bridge to provide an additional lane of traffic in each direction. New bridge sp ans will be constructed of AASHTO Type V girders. In addition, the contract includes repair and rehabilitation of the existing bridge deck. Estimated construction time is 730 calendar days after receipt of Notice to Proceed (NTP). PROPOSAL REQUIREMENTS: A ward will be made to the offeror whose proposal represents the best value to the Government. Best value will be determined by a trade-off between past performance and price. Past performance is slightly more important than price. Magnitude of construction is between $10,000,000 and $25,000,000. The solicitation will be issued on or about 15 July 2002 with proposals due on or about 19 August 2002. Solicitation will be issued in electronic format only. Offerors will be provided a CD-ROM at no cost. Interested offerors must register electronically.
