Description

Under the authority of Federal Acquisition Regulation, Part 6, Subparts 6.301 and 6.302, the U.S. Census Bureau intends to award a sole source contract to COMPAQ Corporation for services in support of the Chief, Systems Management and Analysis Branch (SMAB) over a three-month period. Value of contract is estimated to be less than $100,000. The Chief, Systems Management and Analysis Branch has an urgent need for (a) expert consultative advice and support, (b) in-depth analysis of highly complex system problems, and (3) recommendations for enhancements and corrections to systems support procedures for efficiency gains. These services will require eexpertise in programming techniques of HP TRU 64 and VMS operating systems, expertise in scripting languages, clustering, brocade switching concepts and Storage Area Networks (SANS), working knowledge of Oracle, SAS and Vertias products, and a detailed understanding of the project which is nearing completion. Any response to this notice must show clear and convincing evidence that they are capable of performing this work. In doing so, interested sources must submit technical capabilities, and other information that demonstrates their ability to meet the Census Bureau's needs. Detailed capabilities must be submitted to the U.S. Census Bureau, Acquisition Division, 4700 Silver Hill Road, Room #G-314 (Mail Stop 1700), ATTN: William Russell, Suitland, Maryland 20746. This synopsis is not to be considered a request for quotations or proposals. No solicitation document is available. No contract will be awarded on the basis of offers received in response to this notice, but offers will be used to determine if a comparable source is available. If no affirmative written response is received within 15 days from the publication of this synopsis, a contract may be issued to COMPAQ Corporation without further notice.
