- Description
- The National Cancer Institute (NCI) Advanced Technology Center (ATC) intends to procure a GenePix 4100A Array Scanner with Axon Instruments 3280 Whipple Road, Union City, California 94587. The supplies and services herein are commercial as defined in FAR Part 12. The North American Industry Classification System Code is 421450 and the business size standard is 100 employees. The GenePix 4100A Array Scanner coupled with the GenePix Pro Array Analysis Software, (purchased under purchase order 263MQ116194), will set the highest standards in the acquisition and analysis of data from all types of arrays. NCI ATC requires this particular piece of equipment for analyses of genes regulating tumor formation and progression in Men1 disease, thyroid disease and insulinomas. Our lab has expertise in isolating LCM RNA samples from tumors and normal tissue, converting the RNA to cDNA after 2 rounds of RNA amplification, and comparing their cDNA profiles on human microarray chips consisting of 10,000 genes. The GenePix 4100A is an upgraded model of the original GenePix 4000B, currently being used in the laboratory. This upgraded array scanner has some new unique features that are required for performing gene expression profiling and related research: a) High speed simultaneous scanning, scans two wavelengths in a single pass, b) tightly integrated software/hardware package that runs self-diagnosis of laser power and performance; c) Scripting capabilities for generating customized reports; d) barcode is read by software; e) auto-alignment of non-Axon images; f) array list generator for identifying genes; g) non-confocal optics for optimum signal-noise and field uniformity and; h) small unit takes up less valuable bench top space. Also, it is critical that the array chips being hybridized are scanned as soon as they are washed so as not to loose their fluorescent label. The above features of the Axon GenePix 4100A Array Scanner are believed to be unique to the NCI. This is not a notice for competitive quotations. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirements, especially with regard to compatibility, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The capability statement and any other furnished information must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow NCI to determine if the party can fully meet the requirements. Capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 PM, EDT (local Washington, D.C. time) on August 1, 2002. If you have any questions, please contact Malinda Holdcraft, Purchasing Agent via electronic mail at holdcram@exchange.nih.gov or by fax 301-402-4513. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received shall be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. No collect calls will be accepted. No faxed capability statements will be accepted.
