Description
The following questions / answers are hereby provided in support of the LMI procurement: Q1. How many cranes are involved for the LMI system requested? A1: As stated in the solicitation, the quantities are: Minimum of 129 / Maximum of 181. Q2. Are all the cranes located in the continental US? A2: As stated in the solicitation, cranes are located within the Continental United States (CONUS), Outside the Continental United States (OCONUS) including Hawaii. Q3. Your solicitation notice stated this was the only written solicitation. A3: Yes, this is the only written solicitation. (See FAR 12.603) Q4. Are there any other specifications for the LMI system other than what is in the solicitation notice? A4: As stated in the solicitation, we are looking for a commercial solution which meets the required design and performance requirements of the purchase description. Q5. We are assuming you want the LMI system installed on the cranes by the contractor. A5: Yes. Q6. [May we have access to] capacity charts? A6: Capacity charts will be made available at the following site: www.marcorsyscom.usmc.mil under ?Business Opportunities? ?LMI.? Q7. [What is the] number of winches: 1 or 2? A7: The crane contains both a primary and auxiliary winch. Q8. Do they have jibs? If so, we will require jib capacity charts? A8: No. Q9. Are cranes hydraulic? A9: Yes, this is a P&H Crane. Q10. What is size of hoist cable? A10: ?-inch cable. Q11. Need a clearer definition of "Real Time" information and data logger. A11: Please see A4. Q12. Exactly what is the [Marine] Corp looking for when they refer to "past performance?" A12: As stated in the solicitation, please provide specific examples of recent past performance that illustrates your ability to produce, deliver and warrant your product. Q13. For training, we'll include a per diem with out of pocket expenses charged at cost. Would this approach keep us eligible since we have no indication of actual locations. A13: The awarded contract will be a Firm Fixed Price effort. No cost reimbursable expenses are anticipated. Q14. [What is the] quantity of systems required? A14: Please see A1. Q15. [What are the] locations of installation sites? A15: CONUS Jacksonville Florida, Albany Georgia, North Carolina (Jacksonville), South Carolina (Beaufort), California (Camp Pendelton, San Diego, 29 Palms, Barstow), Arizona (YUMA), and other areas throughout the continental US. OCONUS Iwakuni Japan, Okinawa Japan and Hawaii Q16. Delivery of systems [where are systems to be delivered]? A16: Please see A15. Q17. Are lockout valves required for function shutoff? A17: Yes. Q18: Are there existing systems on the machine? A18: Yes. Q19. Can we use any existing parts from existing systems if equipped? A19: No. Q20. Program configuration for machines (main boom only or extension also)? A20. Please see A6. Q21: Do you require "Anti Two Block" along with "Rated Capacity"? A21: Yes. Q22: If the answer to # 2 is "Yes", does the crane have an Anti Two Block System already installed on it? A22: Yes. Q23: Do you require the LMI to be a "Rated Capacity Indicator" (that gives the operator an audible/visual warning) or a "Rated Capacity Limiter" (that causes the crane to cease motion on alarm condition)? A23: As stated in the solicitation, the LMI must do both. Q24. If the answer to # 4 is "Rated Capacity Limiter", does the crane have an existing "shut-off" function already installed on it? A24: Yes. Q25. Is the crane's boom "self-synchronizing"? (This is identified best by looking at the control levers used to telescope the boom in/out: if ONE lever is used, the crane is "self-synchronizing" and if TWO levers are used, the crane is not.) A25: Yes.
