- Description
- NA This is a Sources Sought Market Survey seeking to identify potential suppliers. This is not a request for proposal, therefore, a SOLICITATION DOCUMENT DOES NOT EXIST AND WILL NOT BE ISSUED AT THIS TIME. The following Request for Information (RFI) for thi s Sources Sought Market Survey is issued for purposes of conducting market research and encouraging companies to provide information concerning current industry practices. The Program Manager?s Office, Light Armored Vehicles (PMO LAV), located at the Tank -automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM), is formulating acquisition and life cycle support strategies for flash hiders for the 25mm M242 Chain Gun. The flash hider should significantly reduce current flash signature, making the discharge of the weapon a s close to invisible as possible to both the naked eye and third generation night vision devices. Installation of the flash hider should be able to be accomplished by the operator or 2nd echelon maintenance facility. PM LAV is seeking candidate systems w hich do not require additional tools. This device should not significantly affect the shot dispersion, trajectory of the round, zero of the weapon, or cycle of the weapon. These systems will be operational and maintainable in all types of climates and te rrain where Marines deploy, specifically in arid, tropical, temperate, and artic climates, as well as amphibious operations. The proposed system shall not induce any additional shock or vibration in to the weapons mount of the M242. The proposed system m ust be compatible with all fielded Test, Measurement, and Diagnostic equipment currently in use with the LAV-25 and the M242 (i.e. the Bore Gage-10, Muzzle Brake, Sight Synchronization Tools, etc.). The Marine Corps is looking for available Off The Shel f or Non-Developmental Item (NDI) systems to fulfill these requirements. It is anticipated that we may purchase up to two units for test and evaluation, followed with a possible acquisition of 400-500 systems. Industry firms capable of rapidly accomplish ing the required services are invited to submit a response to this notice. Firms should identify/submit a copy of their GSA schedule, if applicable.
