Description

The Bureau of Reclamation, Pacific Northwest Region, hereby announces it's intention to award a sole source contract to Microwave Data Systems, 175 Science Parkway, Rochester, New York, 14620-4201. The existing microwave system utilized at the Snake River Area sites is an MDS, 960 MHz digital microwave system with a bandwidth of 384 Kbit. More information is needed from our SCADA system that requires BOR to increase the bandwidth of three links to 768 Kbit. By staying with the MDS radio system, compatibility will be maintained with the next two existing microwave links that are not being upgraded. By upgrading the MDS system, BOR will be able to utilize the same test equipment that was used on the old system. Many of the current spare parts will also be compatible with the new upgrade. The lower bandwidth equipment will be installed as a spur from the upgraded backbone. Upgrading the existing system is a quicker and more cost efficient option than replacing it with another product. The NAICS code for this requirement is 334220 and the size standard is 750. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals. However, all proposals received within ten days after the date of publication of this synopsis will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed action based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement.
