Description
Notice of intent to negotiate a sole source contract with the Monterey Bay Sanctuary Foundation (MBSF) for the National Marine Fisheries Service (NMFS). Purpose of proposed contract is to lay the scientific foundation to evaluate ecological recovery in the largest and newest Marine Protected Area on the West Coast. This is a cooperative project between NMFS, NOAA's Monterey Bay National Marine Sanctuary, and the David & Lucile Packard Foundation. The MBSF is coordinating activities of all participating agencies, including subcontracts. MBSF is the only entity in the MOnterey Bay area which can manage the combined research program of these groups. The information collected during this project will contribute to an increased understanding of the functioning of MPAs to promote protection, conservation, and appreciation of living resources on the West Coast. This is a simplified acquisition with an estimated value of less than $100,000.
