Description

This is a notice that the Department of State intends to purchase thirty-six months of hardware services and thirty-six months of software subscription services from Network Appliance, Inc. of Sunnyvale, California, for two cluster filer systems purchased from that firm under its General Services Administration Federal Supply Schedule Contract GS-35F-5183H. Both services provide emergency 24X7 telephone support by a NetApp engineer. The hardware services for both systems (fifteen shelves and eighteen shelves) include all levels of phone support, four-hour hardware delivery of disk drive and hardware system spares and onsite replacement of system parts and disk drives within four hours after diagnostics. The software subscription services include software and firmware upgrades and updates such as SnapRestore (database restoration), SnapMirror (mirroring of data), Secure Administration (encrypts data between a PC and the filer) and SnapShots (restoration for files) for both the fifteen- and eighteen-shelve filer. The services also include access to a comprehensive service and support internet portal that provides self-service tools and technical information. This notice of intent is not a request for offers. The determination by the Government not to compete this requirement based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. The order will be placed on August 30, 2002.
