- Description
- PROJECT DESCRIPTION: Demolition of El Yunque Pavilion, Caribbean National Forest, near Palmer, PR. The work includes demolition and removal of structural concrete, walls, doors, windows, structural timber and steel, metals, roofs, masonry, piping, electrical and mechanical equipment, insulation, and similar existing facilities. The building to be demolished has fallen into disuse and disrepair, resulting in significant structural damage to the timber roof. Contractor shall provide interior and exterior shoring, bracing and support to prevent movement, settlement, or collapse of existing structures prior to entry into various parts of the building. The pavilion is a historic structure and protection and preservation of key elements is required. Elements to be preserved in-place include two stone chimneys, adjacent stone walls, and a seating wall. Elements to be removed, transported, and stored at a FS location include the wooden bar and selected roof members. PROJECT LOCATION: The El Yunque Pavilion is located on Hwy. 191 at Km 12.1. PRICE RANGE: Less than $100,000. SITE SHOWING: A non-mandatory site visit is scheduled for 10:00 am August 21, 2002. Meet at the Catalina Service Center, Hwy 191, Km 4.4 SOLICITATION DOCUMENTS, SPECIFICATIONS, AND DRAWINGS: Will be posted to the FBO website.
