Description
The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Cancer Institute (NCI), Laboratory for Genome Dynamics plans to procure a GeneChip Instrument System which includes Fludics Station FS400, Hybridization Oven, Type I Workstation with installed Microarray Suite and a copy of the Micro DB and DMT from Affymetrix Inc., 3380 Central Expressway, Santa Clara, CA 95051. The Laboratory of Genome Dynamics conducts research, in causes and consequences of genomic instability, as well as in gene expression profiles in relation to predisposition and prevention of gastrointestinal cancer. This equipment will be used in the continuation of ongoing studies and to maintain the comparability of the data the equipment must be procured from Affymetrix. This system will allow the lab to directly control the pre-analytical steps (sample preparation, labeling and hybridization) as well as post analysis steps in the laboratory. The scanning and data collection will be performed using existing Government owned Affymetrix equipment at the Advanced Technology Center (ATC) Core Facility. Therefor, the equipment must compatible with existing Government owned Affymetrix equipment. This equipment is commercial as defined in FAR Part 2, and this acquisition is being made in accordance with the test program using simplified procedures for certain commercial items as authorized in FAR 13.5. This is not a request for competitive quotation. However, if any interested party believes it can meet the above requirement, it may submit a statement of capabilities. The statement of capabilities and any other information furnished must be in writing and must contain material in sufficient detail to allow the NCI research to determine if the party can perform this requirement. An original and one copy of the capability statements must be received in the contracting office by 1:00 p.m. EDT, on July 31, 2002. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement based upon responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
