- Description
- NASA/KSC plans to issue a Sole Source Request for Quotation (RFQ) for payload processing capability for the Deep Impact and Messenger Missions to Astrotech Space Operations (ASO) 1515 Chaffee Drive, Titusville, Florida 32780. The Deep Impact and Messenger Missions are currently scheduled for launch aboard Delta II Medium Class expendable launch vehicles (ELVs) in early 2004. The requirement is to provide the processing facility and processing support services necessary to prepare the spacecraft for each launch from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station (CCAFS), Florida. Processing activity at the site is expected to begin late September 2003. More detailed schedules and requirements definitions will be contained in the RFQ. This procurement is being conducted under the Simplified Acquisition Procedures (SAP). The Government intends to acquire a commercial item using FAR PART 12. Interested organizations, other than the sole source cited, may submit their capabilities and qualifications to perform the effort in writing to the identified point of contact not later than 4:00 p.m. eastern standard time on August 12, 2002. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed effort on a full and open competition basis, based upon responses to this notice, is solely within the discretion of the government.
