Description
NA The United States Army Aviation and Missile Command intends to negotiate and award a sole-source contract to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control ? Dallas, Texas for Guided MLRS (GMLRS) Production Rate Tooling, with two options for Low Rate Initial Pr oduction (LRIP) quantities. This contract will be the follow-on to the current GMLRS Engineering and Manufacturing Development (EMD) contract. The total estimated value for this contract is $82.2 million. The GMLRS tooling effort shall include the desig n, fabrication, testing, qualification, and installation of special tooling, special inspection equipment, special test equipment, and subcontractor facilitization requirements, to support a production line for producing GMLRS Rocket Pods during the LRIP I and II phases. Subject effort shall also include the design, development, fabrication, testing, qualification, and delivery of the Multiple Launch Rocket System Family of Munitions (MFOM) Common Test Device (MCTD), MCTD Trainer, and MFOM Common Test Set (MCTS). The LRIP I effort shall include procurement of a minimum quantity of 15 GMLRS pods, with option ranges up to a maximum quantity of 167 pods; whereas, the LRIP II effort shall include procurement of a minimum quantity of 113 GMLRS pods with option ranges up to a maximum quantity of 500 pods. A Fixed-Price-Incentive-Fee (FPIF) type contract is anticipated for award. The North Atlantic Industry Classification System Code is 336414. The Request for Proposal (RFP) will be issued on a sole source basi s, to Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Dallas, since they are the designer, developer, and producer of the basic Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS) and associated product improvements. Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control Dallas is the onl y entity that possesses the required level of knowledge and experience necessary to fulfill the required tasking. The anticipated contract award date is scheduled for November 2002. See Numbered Note 22.
