- Description
- NASA/GRC plans to issue a Request for Offer (RFO) for ten (10) accumulators with an option to purchase up to ten (10) additional accumulators per SPEC-DAE-02-001. The accumulators will be used for payloads that will be flown on the International Space Station (ISS) in the Fluids and Combustion Facility, and are required to provide over-pressure protection associated with thermally-induced expansion of liquid-filled flight hardware. Some of the significant specifications for the accumulators are: volumetric displacement of at least 2 cubic inches; maximum envelope of 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches by 2.5 inches; dry weight not to exceed 1 pound; maximum design pressure of 121 psia; 15-year shelf life; and use with the ISS's internal active thermal control heat transport fluid. Delivery is required within ten (10) calendar months after the date of contract award. Documentation is also required. The Government does not intend to acquire a commercial item using FAR Part 12. See Note 26. This procurement is being conducted under full and open competition. The NAICS Code and Size Standard are 332999 and 500 employees, respectively. The DPAS Rating for this procurement is DO-C9. The provisions and clauses in the RFO and model contract are those in effect through FAC 01-08. All qualified responsible sources may submit an offer which shall be considered by the agency. The anticipated release date of the RFO is on or about August 15, 2002 with an anticipated offer due date of on or about September 16, 2002. An ombudsman has been appointed -- See NASA Specific Note "B". The solicitation and any documents related to this procurement will be available over the Internet. These documents will be in Microsoft Office 97 format and will reside on a World Wide Web (WWW) server, which may be accessed using a WWW browser application.
