- Description
- The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) intends to award a fixed price contract for the enrollment and testing of cohort pairs which will advance the scientific understanding of the biologic determinants of non-occupational HIV transmission and the influence of antiretroviral treatment (ART) on those factors. Biologic determinants that may affect HIV transmission include virus-related factors such as viral fitness and selective pressure against transmission of drug-resistant strains as well as host-related factors, which may include genetic and immunologic characteristics. This contract will be for the enrollment of cohorts consisting of two types of partner-pairs: persons who have been recently infected with HIV and their HIV-infected source partners, and persons who have been recently exposed to HIV but not infected and their HIV-infected partners. Participants in this study are identified through existing infrastructure, interviewed and asked to furnish biologic samples. Results of these studies will be used to further knowledge about innate and acquired factors that may protect against sexual and injection drug-related HIV transmission. The awarded contract shall be for a period of 48 months. The NAICS code for this procurement is 541710. See Numbered Note 26. Upon issuance, the RFP will be available on the Internet at www.eps.gov. The date specified for receipt of offers will be approximately 30 days after the solicitation issue date. The solicitation issue date will be on or about May 15, 2002. NOTE: THIS NOTICE WAS NOT POSTED TO FEDBIZOPPS.GOV ON THE DATE INDICATED IN THE NOTICE ITSELF (01-MAY-2002). IT ACTUALLY FIRST APPEARED ON THE FEDBIZOPPS SYSTEM ON 30-JUL-2002.
