Description
The Lexington-Concord Chapter of the Armed Forces Communications and Electronics Association (AFCEA) in participation with the USAF Electronic Systems Center (ESC) is pleased to announce a two-day symposium entitled "New Horizons at ESC" 29-30 October 2002 at the MITRE Corporation, Building S, Bedford, MA. The objective of AFCEA's New Horizons Symposium is to broadcast to industry ESC programs for business development/pursuit, and, as a byproduct, provide information on changes/updates to DOD acquisition strategies. Because the word of the day throughout DoD is "Transformation of the Force" and ESC is a "Center for C2ISR Acquisition" both are captured within the proposed conference theme, "Force Transformation Through Agile Acquisition". We will get a top level perspective on Transformation objectives and visions from OSD then carry that message forward into implementation perspectives from AF and AFMC, finally focusing on ESC organizations with emphasis on acquisition impacts; how ESC is supporting transformation through agile acquisition (e.g.. the view that agile acquisition would be an enabler for transformation...doing things faster, better, cheaper). Industry partners are interested in how AF/AFMC, and in turn, ESC are planning to transform its acquisition processes...hence the focus on AF/XI, SAF/AQ and AFMC/TR overviews; more explicitly on how we're transforming our acquisition processes as enabling force transformation. The symposium registration fee is $375 for AFCEA members, $410 for non-members, and $225 for government attendees. For more information including a registration form, visit the Lexington-Concord Chapter web site at http://www.afceaboston.com or contact Ms. Claire Goulet at 781-221-1580 or cgoulet@acsdefense.com .
