Description
NA Fort Drum is issuing this Request for Information (RFI) to seek information from interested parties with recent experience in installation and configuration of highly available Windows NTS 4.0 and 2000 operating systems, Microsoft Cluster Server, Microsoft Exchange 5.5, Fibre Channel (FC) switch management, Storage Area Networks (SAN), and Veritas software. Provide a fault tolerant, scalable, No Single Point of Failure (NSPOF) mirrored SAN with FC attached servers in two separate buildings on Fort Drum. B uildings are 16,000 feet apart connected by single mode fiber. SAN and servers shall have failover and failback capability. Provide Microsoft Exchange services initially to approximately 500 users, with 30Mb information store each. Equipment must be siz ed appropriately to run Windows 2000 Active Directory services, Exchange 2000 and SQL 2000 without hardware upgrade. Minimum initial storage .7Tb space scalable to minimum 8Tb for support of 12000 users. Equipment will be rack mounted. Storage system must be configured to provide synchronous mirror and snapshot capability for mission critical business continuity, quick backup and data restoration. Provide a tape library with Veritas software, a minimum two hot swappable drives, minimum of 20 tape slots, removable magazines, tape change without operator intervention, must be stackable for expansion. Library will provide a centralized point to backup all identified servers and have LAN-free backup for all SAN attached devices. All servers and FC switches shall be fully meshed to provide NSPOF. Each switch will be sized to allow for minimum 50% growth. All hardware and software must be listed on the M icrosoft Hardware Compatibility List (HCL) for use with Windows 2000, Exchange 5.5 & 2000, and SQL 2000. Provide itemized BOM for hardware, software, training and services. Include software to configure and manage the servers, switches, storage resources , and backup/recover of all systems. Software will provide storage management for data protection, disaster recovery, storage virtualization, network storage and application availability including backup and recovery, file and volume management, and clust ering and replication. Provide minimum of four each servers. Dual P3 XEON 1000Mhz+, 1024 Mb RAM, two each 18 Gb 15k RPM SCSI drives with RAID 1 mirroring, redundant power supplies, two each 10/100/1000 NICS, HBA, Remote Access (Management) Card, Rack moun ted to function as PDC, BDC, WINS, server running NTS4.0.Two each servers Dual P3 XEON 1000Mhz+, 2048 Mb RAM, 2 each 18 Gb 15k RPM SCSI drives with RAID 1 mirroring, redundant power supplies, 2 each 10/100/1000 NICS, 2 Each Host Bus Adapters, Remote Access (Management) Card, Rack mounted to function as clustered Exchange 5.5 servers.Must connect to storage systems via HBA and utilize storage subsystem for Exchange data files, and run W2K Server. Will utilize existing Exchange 5.5 licenses. Clustered (co-l ocated with SAN) between two separate buildings to provide failover and failback capability. One each Rack mounted, LCD Monitor, Keyboard and Mouse shared between all servers at each location. Migrate 60 existing users to the domain and Exchange servers u sing the move mailbox method, train administrators in this process. Provide training plan to cover: SAN environment configuration, adding hosts and disk drives, arrays, adding and reconfiguring disk drives and arrays, configuring LUNs, block assignments, s torage management software, backup software usage, server remote access (management) usage, switch management. Provide best practices for: routine operation of SAN, operating system, Exchange, backup software, backup and restoration of servers and service s, snapshot of information stores/ servers/ failover/ failback of servers and services. It is the intent of Fort Drum to solicit a limited General Services Administration (GSA) Schedule competition, based upon the response to this request of qualified GSA schedule ho lders with the requisite experience in data base development/modification and implementation in the areas outlined above. Before making this determination Fort Drum will take into consideration the number of interested respondents. The applicable North Ame rican Industrial Classification System code is 541512. THIS IS A REQUEST FOR INFORMATION ONLY!!! It is neither a Request for Proposal, nor solicitation, nor an indication that Fort Drum will contract for these items. The Government will NOT pay for any in formation given in response to this call for information. Submitted documents will NOT be returned to those firms who provide responses to this RFI. Proprietary information will be safeguarded in accordance with the applicable Government regulations. Firms that wish to respond to this RFI should provide the following information: (1) a brief summary of the services and equipment offered in response to this RFI, (2) a statement indicating an interest and the capability to provide the services as described, ( 3) statements of relevant experience using the software listed above, (4) a technical approach to perform the required services described above, and (5) published price lists are due to the POC no later than August 21, 2002. Information should be sent to d occsr@drum.army.mil with information on their services with sufficient technical and price detail to allow for a detailed evaluation to the Contracting Officer.
