Description
The National Park Service intends to award to ATS (Advanced Telemetry Systems, Inc) on a single source basis a contract in the amount of $68,000 for ht e purchase of 20 GPS Collars at $3,000 each =$60, 000, 20 VHF Collars @$300.00 each=$6,000 and one Telemtry receiver at $2,000 for a total of $68,000. These collars are the only collars in the market that have 12 channel capability to collect satellite date. This maximizes our ability to collect data and to determine locations especially in forested area. The serious issue of Chronic Wasting Disease, (CHD), is the concern and inorder to have the most reliable equipment with the best capability ATS is the only one in the market that can provide us with the equipment we need in our location. ATS will also be able to provide on-site consultation and will be able to assist during capture and setup. ATS equipment has antenna adjustment capability that we have not been able to locate in the market elsewhere and this will maximize the masking angle and allow for a much better fit in smaller animals. These collars will be used in a study being conducted to look at Chronic Wasting Disease occurrence and transmission in deer within and near the Park. This disease has been identifed as a serious threat to cervid populations, and of concern to the public and livestock industry. With the seriousness of this disease, it is important to have the most reliable equipment available to re-locate the deer. This procurement will be made o/a august 15, 2002 . NAICS:334220 P&S:6695 For questions of a technical nature contact Dan Foster at Wind Cave National Park at 605-745-1190 before august 15, 2002.
