Description
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) intends to increase the ceiling on AdminaStar Federal's IDIQ contract number 500-97-0408. This contract is for 1-800 call center support. The primary function of this contract is to pilot, evaluate and implement approaches to respond to beneficiary telephone inquiries regarding Medicare, Medicaid and other CMS programs. The contract is for a base year with four (4) one-year options. It is currently in the fifth year of the potential five (5) year period of performance. The existing contract ceiling is $170 million. CMS intends to increase the ceilings by $45 million to accommodate an orderly transition to a successor contractor under a new competition. CMS has awarded another set of multiple award IDIQ contracts for its Telephone Customer Service Strategy. These contracts include an expanded role in the support of CMS's call center and customer service environment. The new IDIQs will consume one of the larger efforts under AdminaStar's existing IDIQ contract (i.e., the operation of the 1-800 Medicare Help Line). Until such time as the new task order for the 1-800 Medicare Help Line can be awarded and a replacement call center can be fully implemented, it has become necessary to increase the ceiling on AdminaStar's existing contract to accommodate another year of operations. Comments concerning CMS's intent should be forwarded to Debbie Lester, Contract Specialist, at dlester@cms.hhs.gov within 15 days after publication of this synopsis.
