Description
NA The U.S. Army Soldier and Biological Chemical Command is conducting a market survey of man-portable, flame/incendiary weapons for use in close combat in urban and complex (mountains, jungle, forest) terrain by dismounted soldiers. While we seek to determine what weapons are commercially available today, we are also interested in new or emerging technologies that could potentially increase the capabilities of existing flame/incendiary weapons, or could result in a novel weapon. The technolo gies (current or future) can relate to new or different methods for payload delivery, the weapon's materiel composition, improvements in the incendiary/flame components, or adding a flame capabity to a weapon that currently does not have one. The consider ation of any technology is not constrained by current U.S. doctrine, with the exception of violation of current human use policy or treaties. Depending on the results of this survey, there may be a follow-on demonstration (live and/or virtual) of these tec hnologies to key military personnel, but there is no guarantee of such an event. All interested parties should respond to this market survey within 30 days of publication of this notice. Responses should consist of agency/organization name, address, point of contact, telephone number, fax number, e-mail address, and information about the weapons/technologies. The information (not to exceed two pages) must address: the weapon's technical attributes and its capabilities, its suitability for use in close comb at in urban or complex terrain, its portability, and, in the case of emerging technologies, a projected developmental timetable. Please also indicate willingness to participate in a possible demonstration with other companies at Ft. Benning, GA, in approxi mately six months at no expense to the government. The information can be mailed or e-mailed to the addresses provided below. This market survey does not constitute the solicitation of proposals, nor is there any obligation on the part of the government to enter into any type of contractual arrangement with any of the entities for any of the candidate technologies, nor will the government pay for any information submitted.
