Description

The National Park Service (NPS) will be conducting a tour of concession facilities at Glacier Bay National Park for companies who are interested in competing for the principal park concession contract. The tour, on September 4-5, 2002, will be prior to the release of the business prospectus, scheduled for the winter of 2002-2003, so that interested parties can see the concession during the summer operating season. The business to be operated will include the lodge, bus transportation, food service, gifts and merchandise, and tour vessel services for the Glacier Bay Lodge contract. This is a summer seasonal operation with recent annual gross revenue of $4.5 million (2001), though some services may not be included in the next concession contract, Mr. David Nemeth, Concession Specialist at Glacier Bay National Park, will conduct an orientation and walking tour of the facilities on September 4, 2002. As an option, Mr. Nemeth will accompany interested parties on the "Spirit of Adventure" day tour vessel during its normal tour of the park (interested parties will be required to cover tour costs).
