Description

The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), Space Environment Center (SEC), proposes to negotiate on a sole source basis, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b)(1), with Vertex RSI, Kilgore, TX for components necessary to refurbish a Vertex 6.1m Ku band antenna system owned by SEC. The refurbished 6.1m parabolic satellite ground station antenna is to be used with GOES and ACE spacecraft. To accomplish the frequency conversion and refurbishment, SEC proposes to purchase from Vertex RSI replacement receive only feed horn and combiner assemblies for L and S band use in the compact cassegrain feed system, and an updated antenna control unit compatible with the existing Vertex motor drives. These are internal assemblies within the overall Vertex proprietary antenna system and no interface specifications or drawings are available. No solicitation is available. Responses to this notice will be used solely to determine if a competitive acquisition is in the best interest of the Government. This acquisition is being conducted under simplified acquisition procedures pursuant to FAR Part 13 (NTE $100K). The anticipated award date is September 9, 2002
