- Description
- The Social Security Administration (SSA) is seeking vendors who can provide a hardware load balancing solution for SSA??s web server infrastructure. A load balanced environment will assist the Social Security Administration with its goal of providing 24 x 7 support for all enterprise-wide applications. The Social Security Administration requires a unique scalable hardware solution that offers persistent and efficient load balancing of web servers and firewalls in a non-software or PC-based hardware solution. The requirements for the load balancing solution are as follows: ?h Simultaneous Layer 2,3,4 and 7 switching; ?h Support for URL-based redirection and load balancing; ?h VRRP support for active/active redundancy; ?h Local and Global server load balancing, packet filtering, TCP/IP redirections; ?h SSH Command Line Interface; ?h Persistent connections/Sticky bit sessions; ?h Network Appliance (Switch device) not a PC based device or software; ?h Support for Video Streaming; ?h 10/100/1000 FX or 100 TX connections; ?h Support for various Load Balancing methods including: ?h Fastest responding site fulfills the request; ?h Server response time; ?h Weighted Round Robin; ?h Least connection; ?h NAT capability; ?h High Availability including: ?h Hot-Hot; ?h Hardware redundancy (ie power supply); ?h Logging and Reporting capabilities; ?h Ability to send alert via e-mail; ?h 24X7 Support; ?h Scalable; ?h FTP support passive and active; ?h SSL Support; ?h Capable of 256 Vlan??s per port; ?h ASIC (Application Specific Integrated Circuits); ?h Dedicated memory and processors for each ASIC; ?h At least 8 ports per switch device; ?h Compatible with Cisco Ethernet switches; ?h Compatible with NT and Unix web servers; ?h Support of Jumbo Frames; ?h Support of 16 Spanning Tree groups; ?h Support of EtherChannel; ?h No moveable boot up parts (no hard drives); and ?h VMA (Virtual Matrix Architecture) this allows traffic to go to unused ports. Interested vendors able to provide the required hardware solution are invited to submit information in sufficient detail to demonstrate their ability to meet SSA??s requirements. Technical literature is essential. Vendors responding should indicate whether the candidate products are available on the GSA schedule. Cost or pricing data may be submitted. This is not a request for proposals (RFP) and the Government does not intend to pay for information submitted. Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation of the data received. No contract award will be made on the basis of responses received; however, this information will be used in SSA??s assessment of capable sources. Responses to this notice should be submitted in duplicate within 15 days of the publication of this notice and should refer to ??Load Balancing Solution??. Requests for copies of a solicitation will not be honored or acknowledged.
