- Description
- The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) plans to issue a purchase order on a sole source basis to International Union of Pure & Applied Chemistry, Research Triangle Park, NC, under the authority of FAR 13.106-1 (b) using Simplified Acquisition Procedures. Contractor shall compile and evaluate solubility data for solubility systems which will be selected from the following 1) Acetonitrile, Binary Systems 2) Inorganic Actinides 3) Azides, Cyanides, Cyantes, and Thiocyanates of Alkali Metals 4) Alkaline Earth Metal Carbonates 5) Acetonitrile, Ternary and Higher Systems 6) Carbon Dioxide in Nonaqueous Systems at Pressures above 2 Bar 7) Solids and Liquids in Supercritical Carbon Dioxide. David Shaw, who is a world known chemist specializing in research solubility, is the Chair of the International Union of Pure & Applied Chemistry Commission and is an author of several volumes in the IUPAC Solubility Data Series. As Chair of IUPAC, Mr. Shaw is in charge of reviewing experimental data for solubilities for all types of chemical systems and is uniquely qualified to perform the duties of this contract. The period of performance will be September 27, 2002 to September 27, 2003 with two one-year option-year periods. Work will be performed at the vendor's site. The anticipated award date of the order is on or about 10 days from the date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive quotations. Interested persons may identify their intent and capability to respond to the requirement no later than the response date above. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based upon responses to the notice is solely within the discretion of the Government.
