Description
The U.S. Department of Agriculture, Agricultural Research Service, Pacific West Area, Plant Germplasm, Introduction and Testing Unit in Pullman, Washington intends to award to Argus Control Systems a sole source procurement under the authority of FAR 6.302-1, Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. The research unit has a need to upgrade an existing greenhouse control system. Argus' integrated control system will be required to manipulate specialized greenhouse equipment designed to accomplish: 1.Narrow setpoint deviation tolerances over the wide span of possible climate conditions required for various horticultural applications; 2.Root and leaf zone temperature control; 3.Evaporative cooling & humidification; 4.Dehumidificaiton and condensation control; 5.Evapotranspiration, humidity levels, and vapor pressure deficits with crop canopies; 6.Irrigation (capacity, seed selection, delivery, and recovery management); 7.Mist & fog propagation; 8.User-definable output control programs for research and other special applications; 9.Plant nutrient monitoring, dosing, and control; 10.Safety overrides for wind, rain, snow detection, high lighting intensity; 11.Global, multi-system overrides for spray applications, snow melting, etc.; 12.Modulating of roof and wall vents ( based on indoor / outdoor temperatures, humidities, light levels, wind direction, and wind intensities); 13.Management of light intensities, supplementary illumination, and illumination periods(shade control systems, high intensity lighting, and cyclic crop lighting). Parameters for data recording, including: Sensor measurements, Equipment operating timers, Operation settings, Equipment operating counters, Control values and targets, Equipment status, System diagnostics and alarms, Greenhouse temperature & humidity Long-term data logging option with 48 hour data retrieval available on line (directly from controllers), while the optional Data Archival package can automatically store and retrieve permanent records on the disk drive of an IBM-compatible PC. Archived data needs to have the capability of being exported to spreadsheet or database programs for further analysis or manipulation. Any system installed must conform to Washington State University contract # 14295 and link into a single greenhouse control system for WSU.
