Description

This is a combined synopsis/solicitation for commercial items prepared in accordance with the format in Subpart 12.6, as supplemented with additional information included in this notice. This announcement constitutes the only solicitation; quotes are being requested and a written solicitation will not be issued. Solicitation #NWG93-200186 is issued as a request for quotation. The U.S. Department of Commerce/NOAA/NWS requires the following Communications Protocol Adapter: 1.) 4 Port Protocol Appliance w/License - Linux Streams with X25 4 Port PCI Sync Board, Quantity 6 (Gcom #GPA-204 or equivalent); 2.) Gigabit Ethernet Card, Quantity 6 (Gcom #GEC or equivalent); 3.) Cable - V.35, Quantity 24 (Gcom #CV35 or equivalent); 4.) Cable RS232/DB25, Quantity 24 (Gcom #C232 or equivalent); 5.) Annual Software Support, Quantity 6 (Gcom #SSA or equivalent); 6.) Professional Services (set up/configuration), Quantity 6; 7.) PCI Expansion Chassis, 7 slot, 19" rack mount cabinet, 32 PCI slots, Quantity 2; This request for quotation is being issued on a Brand Name or Equal basis. Accordingly, the Federal Acquisition Regulation Clause 52.211-6, Brand Name or Equal (Aug. 1999) applies. The following is a listing of the salient characteristics applicable to Item 1, Communications Protocol Adapter : *last packet transmission confirmation for broadcast circuits; *4 ports scalable to 32 ports with PCI slots or rack mountable expansion chassis; *API supports AIX V.5; *19" rack mountable hardware platform not to exceed 1 rack unit (1.72") in height. All items shall be received by September 27, 2002, FOB destination at: U.S. Dept. of Commerce/NOAA/NWS, 1325 East West Highway, Room #6118, Silver Spring, MD 20910. Provision 52.212-1, Instructions to Offerors-Commercial, applies to this acquisition. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular 2001-08 dated 06/27/02. This requirement is set aside exclusively for small business concerns pursuant to FAR Subpart 13.003. Award will be made to the responsive company whose bid is technically acceptable, lowest price. Offerors are to include a completed copy of provision 52.212-3, Offeror Representations and Certifications-Commercial Items (www.arnet.gov/far) with their offer. The provisions at FAR 52.2212-1, Instructions to Offerors-Commercial Items, applies to this acquisition as does Clause 52. 212-4 Contract Terms and Conditions-Commercial Items, 52.222-35 Affirmative Action for handicapped Workers, and 52.225-3 Buy American Act.
