- Description
- The National Institutes of Health (NIH), National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) has a requirement to purchase an AKTA Abasic 10, Motor Valve, PH/C-900 Monitor, Conductivity Cell, PH Electrode, PH Flow Cell with Dummy, FRAC-901 Fraction Collector, AKTA User Kit and Unicorn Control from Amersham BioSciences, 800 Centennial Avenue, Piscataway, NJ 08855. The following specifications are needed for the system: 1) A flow rate range of .001-10 mls/min at pressures ranging from 0-3625 psi; 2) System must have option of adding alternate pump heads to increase flow rate range to 0.01-100ml/min. and 1450 psi. pressure; 3) System must be a two-pump gradient system with dynamic mixing; 4) System must come supplied with a 0.6 ml interchangeable mixing chamber and have option of a 2ml chamber for gradients at higher flow rates; 5) Wetted flow path of the system must be inert to halides; 6) Pump heads must be titanium with valves and tubing PEEK; 7) System pumps should allow operation of the system at zero backpressure; 8) The controller must allow programs to be time-based, volume-based, or column-volume based; 9) The system must include 3 motorized valves, 1 for sample injection, 1 for sample selection, and 1 for outlet flow selection; 10) The system must have the ability to control 6 more optional motorized valves for a total of 9 motorized valves, to facilitate cleaning, storage, selection of various chromatographic columns; 11) The motorized valves should provide feedback to the control system to ensure proper orientation of all valves, and documentation of valve positions at all times. The valves should be driven electronically and require no external air or pressure to operate; 12) The system controller must allow the user to be entering details of the next purification at the same time the current separation is being done. The software must allow complete manual control of all parameters and running conditions while running a method; 13) Control of motorized valves, fraction collector, dynamic gradient mixer and autosampler must be possible from the system controller; 14) The pumps, UV monitor, valves and fraction collector must be specified for use in a cold room at 4 degrees C; 15) Controller must be able to accept seven input signals (e.g. 3 UV wavelengths, conductivity, pH, temperature and pressure) 16) The system must include a sample pump to automatically load up to 8 samples. The sample pump must be able to flow at 0.1 to 50 ml/min. and a pressure of up to 150 psi.; 17) Installation and training. The Institutes intends to purchase this equipment by other than full and open competition from Amersham Biosciences. To the best of the Government's knowledge they are the sole manufacturer and distributor of this equipment. Interested vendors may identify, in writing, their interest with a capability statement to the Contracting Officer prior to the closing date of this notice. This notice of intent is not a request for competitive proposals, however, all responses received before, the closing date of this announcement, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed acquisition is based upon responses to this notice and is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. It is anticipated that Request for Quotation (RFQ) NIH-NIDDK-02-813 will be available fifteen (15) days after the publication date of this synopsis. This Request for Quote will be issued on September 6, 2002. Receipt of quotations will be due ten (10) days after the release of the RFQ (September 16, 2002). The anticipated award date is September 20, 2002. Request for copies of the RFQ must be in writing and may be FAXED to 301-480-4226. Quotations must be submitted in writing to the National Institutes of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases 6707 Democracy Blvd., Room 774C, Bethesda, Maryland 20817 Attention: Patricia Haun. FAX quotations must contain offerors names, address, telephone number and fax number. FAX quotations will only be accepted if dated and signed by an authorized company representative.
