Description
VA VISN 22 Network Business Center intends to negotiate a commercial (FAR Part 12) sole source contract with Senior Technologies, Inc. under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. The solicitation document and incorporated provisions and clauses are those in effect through Federal Acquisition Circular (FAC) 97-22. Only one responsible source and no other supplies or services will satisfy agency requirements. A justification for other than full and open competition is being prepared in support of this acquisition. This procurement is to obtain the customized floor plan annunciator utilizing the patented Pre-Alert alarm indicator designed specifically for health care providers and associated support services employees. The procurement will specifically provide for implementation of the WanderGuard Departure System in the geriatrics ward at the Long Beach VA Medical Center. The WanderGuard shall be a wireless, simple in operation system to provide employees with the pre-alert monitoring of elopements before they occur; this electronic safety device shall alert staff of patients wearing safety bracelets who are about to leave the boundary area. The WanderGuard system with Pre-Alert package shall reduce the need to place patients on 1:1 observations that are elopement risks. Support services and supplies include one-time installation fee at the facility, completed within thirty days from date of initial award. Training is provided by Senior Technologies at no additional cost to the Government. The Government intends to award a firm, fixed price contract for Long Beach VA Healthcare System. Interested persons may identify their interest and capability to respond to the requirement or submit a proposal. This notice is not a request for competitive proposals. All proposals received by 3:00 P.M. Pacific Daylight Time, August 26, 2002, will be considered by the Government. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed contract based on responses to this notice is solely within the discretion of the Government. Information received will be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. Inquiries will only be accepted in writing by mail, or by facsimile to Larry Facey at (562) 826-8067.
