- Description
- The Project manager, Close Combat System is conducting a market survey of industry to identify sources that are capable of supplying a re-bar cutting devices that is commercially available, lightweight and a more efficient device than those currently used in the Army. The proposed device shall be capable of shearing/cutting 40 re-bars within one hundred eighty (180) seconds. The re- bars will be spaced 12 inches each direction, horizontal & vertical, in a double layer. In addition, the item shall weigh less than 3 pounds and shall not create any hazardous gases or force the user to move away from the cutting site. The item may be expendable and shall withstand all Military handling environments including Transportation & Vibration without adversely affecting other explosive items within the same carrying bag. Use of the device/system shall be simple and easily understood by the solder without any special training. Furthermore, use of the proposed device shall require no additional items other than normal Army fighting gear. The purpose of this market survey is to seek commercial sources with existing hardware or the capability to integrate existing technology, hardware/systems to meet the U.S. Army needs. Interested firms that are capable of furnishing the above-described item (that is currently being sold to the Government or to the commercial market) are invited to submit their interest in doing so, by writing to Mrs. Karen Thompson, Contract Specialist, AMSTA-AQ-APA, Bldg.10, Picatinny Arsenal, NJ 07806. All information provided must be non-proprietary. The deadline for response is 30 September 2002. In addition, your response may include two representative demonstration units that physically and functionally meet the specified requirements including a Safety Assessment Report and all other necessary documents to conduct a demonstration. The Government intends to conduct a demonstration of the unit at TACOM-ARDEC Picatinny Arsenal, New date of this notice. In order to be included in this demonstration, the demo units must be received at Picatinny Arsenal by 30 September 2002. Units must be shipped both to and from Picatinny Arsenal at the owner?s expense. The Government assumes no liability for damages to the units. Mrs. Karen Thompson will provide a liability agreement for your execution, upon notification that your firm plans to submit demo unit(s) for demonstration. This liability agreement will be executed prior to the Government?s use in demonstration of the unit(s).
