- Description
- The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) through the Division of Acquisition Management, intends to award an eight (8) month sole source simplified acquisition to Synergies, National Inhalant Prevention Coalition, 2940 Kirby Lane, Austin, Texas 78703. The purpose of this requirement is to develop partnership with the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition to provide support for an education campaign to alert the public to the dangers of inhalants. SAMHSA/CSAT support will be provided to research data on inhalants including what constitutes effective treatment from experts in the field, and to convene a meeting of inhalant experts in the Washington, DC, area to determine the state of knowledge on treatment and prevention. Invited to the meeting will be various experts from pertinent Federal agencies, the faith community, foundations, medical groups, trade associations, poison control centers and other interested parties, to address the issues involved in inhalant use and expand on last year?s concept paper on what should be done to address the inhalant abuse problem. SAMHSA/CSAT support will enable the National Inhalant Prevention Coalition to hold a press conference in Washington to kick-off National Inhalants and Poisons Awareness Week in March 2003 to stimulate media coverage of the dangers of inhalant use and abuse. Closing date is September 3, 2002. This proposed requirement for which the Government intends to solicit only one source is under the authority of FAR 13.106-1(b). Interested concerns may identify their interest and submit a capability statement that demonstrates their ability to provide the services required. Information received will normally be considered solely for the purpose of determining whether to conduct a competitive procurement. THIS NOTICE IS NOT A REQUEST FOR COMPETITIVE PROPOSALS. NO SOLICITATION IS AVAILABLE; THEREFORE, REQUESTS FOR SUCH DOCUMENT WILL BE CONSIDERED INVALID RESPONSES. A determination by the Government not to compete this proposed requirement is solely within the discretion of the Government. If no affirmative responses are received within 10 days from the date of this synopsis, the Contracting Officer will proceed with the award to Synergies.
