Description

The Marine Corps Systems Command intends to negotiate a cost plus fixed fee contract with The Robotics Institute/Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), 5000 Forbes Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15213. The Marine Corps Warfighting Laboratory (MCWL) requires Dragon Runner Mobile Ground Sensor (MGS) system product improvement development to further enhance the current MGS system capability. After a series of urban experiments and operational assessments by MCWL, the need for greater capabilities in tactical Reconnaissance, Surveillance, and Target Acquisition (RSTA) at the small unit level was deemed necessary. Marine Company and below tactical units need an organic capability to conduct RSTA in their assigned areas of influence that cover all areas within the range of their direct fire and indirect fire organic weapons. The MGS is expected to aid the Marine in obtaining these capabilities.
