Description

The U.S. Special Operations Command, Technology Applications Program Office (TAPO) has a requirement to modify existing AN/APN-209 series Radar Altimeters (RADALT) via an Engineering Change Proposal (ECP) to provide a Low Probability of Intercept and Low Probability of Detection (LPI/LPD) capability, as well as altitude readout to a minimum of 8,000 feet. The Government intends to award this effort on a sole source basis to Honeywell, Inc., Sensor and Guidance Products, 2600 Ridgeway Parkway, Minneapolis, MN 55413. Honeywell is the sole manufacturer of the existing RADALT and owns all data. The Government anticipates that a solicitation will be issued by 9 September 2002. Note 22 applies. The following is a basic description of the acquisition. The initial effort will modify five existing systems to provide an 8,000?(T), 10,000? (O) digital output and significant reduction in fore/aft and left/right detectable signature. Following successful qualification and testing, the Government may elect to upgrade the remaining aircraft to the modified configuration.
