Description
This amendment extends closing date for technical and cost proposals to September 9, 2002 at 2:00pm. This amendment answers questions raised at July 31st walkthru. Questions Raised at July 31st Walkthrough of Shultz Center 1. Is E Building part of the historical register? This building is eligible for historical registry. 2. What type of speakers? Ceiling type for voice? Our preference is surface mounted speakers that can blend into the room. 3. Any areas require clearances for workers? No. 4. Are blueprints going to be made available? We have put the telecommunications, mechanical and electrical blueprints on a CD-Rom for bidder?s use. 5. What sites do we need voice feedback? See attached listing. 6. Is system going to be zoned? Yes. Each building should be a separate zone. This solicitation covers the Buildings C, D, E, F and the Visitor Center. Announcements made should be audible throughout building. Announcements should be audible on loading docks (Building C and F) as well. 7. Are section?s/languages need to be zoned together? No. 8. Will you allow night work? Yes. Work may begin at 5pm through 6am. Because this is a teaching facility noisy work must occur after 5pm. 9. Is that a requirement ? if noise after hours. See #8. 10. Government estimate ? is it available? No. 11. Do you have cable TV? Yes, an in-house RF MATV system throughout the campus. 12. Are there cable trays available? No. 13. Any existing data excess cabling infrastructure? No. 14. Is there a way to get cable from one building to another? Is there excess space in the manhole system? There is an existing manhole system connected by conduits with space for future pulls. 15. Would like the feedback sites to communicate with each other? No. 16. Would we be able to tap into existing PBX? No, we want a completely stand alone system. 17. What you want in a stand-alone system? See Section C of the solicitation. 18. Do you want UPS backup or is there an existing system that can be tied into? We will tie this to an existing UPS. 19. Do you have telephone closets on each floor? Yes. 20. Do you want to broadcast outside building? We would like this to be a separate option that we can consider. 21. Do you want the pathways, parking lots, under bridges with speakers? The only area outside of the facility we are considering are the parking lots. This however would be a separate requirement (see question 20). 22. Does existing underground cabling go to all the buildings? Yes. 23. How soon can your plans be available will need every piece of drawing available. See answer to question 4. 24. When are you looking at getting started? Before the end of this year. 25. Would you consider moving the response date back a little? The new due date for proposals/bids is September 9th at 2:00pm. 26. Would you consider a wireless system for the parking lots? Yes. 27. Need mechanical, electrical and telecommunications blueprints. See question 4 above. 28. Do you have a good set of RF cable drawings? What we have would be on the telecommunication blueprints. 29. Are you flexible on final install date? We want to have this system completely installed by March, 2003. 30. Anticipated start date, or hold firm to award date. Anticipated start date would be thirty days after contract award. 31. What are after hours work-hours and do we need escorts? See question 8. 32. Can we work on weekends? Yes. 33. Do you have spaces you want to section off/soundproof? The audio-visual filming studios would need to be soundproofed (1st floor ? F1328). 34. Need 6-8 parking spaces for supplies and equipment staging area. Because work will primarily be done after hours this will not be a problem. 35. Do you have training and documentation requirement? Training as necessary to operate the system for 3-4 people on site. Complete documentation of system. 36. How do you want to handle post-installation maintenance requirements? We intend to initiate a maintenance contract. 37. Do you want requirements coming back to you as paper or CAD? Paper. 38. Would you consider doing this any other way than firm fixed price? No. 39. If contractor employees have a DOD security clearance, do they need escorts? There will be a Department of State escort for contractor employees. 40. Will you accept phase/building acceptance? Yes. 41. What type of PBX do you have? Not applicable. We want a stand alone system. 42. Will you lay out the zones on the drawings? Yes ? see question 6. 43. Clarify whether wiring is plenium or non-plenium. We have both plenium and non-plenium wiring. 44. Space for project manager during duration of job No. 45. Can we drop ship parts to your warehouse? Yes, but we will need advance notification. 46. Can they place a dumpster and trailer on the grounds? The trailer and dumpster may be some distance from the buildings you are working on. 47. Any requirements for marking of cables? Cables should be marked on each end.
