- Description
- The U.S. Army TACOM/ARDEC is contemplating issuing a purchase order to Sypris Data Systems, Frederick, Maryland on a sole source basis for a ?Tape Recorder 101 E? for use in telemetry applications, under the authority of FAR 6.302-1. This type of tape recorder is required to meet the mission need of obtaining the greatest degree of fidelity in recording data results for munitions design. This analog tape recorder has the capability of recording data being received at a faster data rate. This is essential because the new classes of telemeters are transmitting information much faster than current telemeters. Only one company, SYPRIS, manufactures a recorder, which will record data at the required rate of 16Mbits/sec. In addition, it is the only type of recorder compatible with the telemetry systems being used to acquire this data. This notice does not constitute an RFP and is not to be construed as a commitment by the Government. See Numbered Note 22.
